Mersey Gateway nature trail opens on Wigg Island

A special nature trail dedicated to the Mersey Gateway Project has opened on Wigg Island in Runcorn.

The Wigg Island Environmental Trail has been set up by construction consortium Merseylink, and local charity, the Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust.

Expressway route set for seven-month closure as new infrastructure is built

A linked section of the Central and Southern Expressways in Runcorn is to be closed for around seven months from Saturday 7 November.

The closure is essential as part of the ongoing work to build and upgrade the approach roads for the new bridge at the centre of the Mersey Gateway Project. Read more →

Jobs joy for Runcorn duo

Two Runcorn residents are celebrating after landing jobs with the Mersey Gateway Project.
