The arrangements for the public inquiry into the Mersey Gateway Project have been discussed at an official pre-inquiry meeting held by the Planning Inspector today (Tuesday 24th March).

Supporters and objectors gathered at The Brindley, Runcorn to hear from Planning Inspector Alan T Gray about how the inquiry, which starts on 19th May, will examine the proposals being put forward by Halton Borough Council. The inquiry will take place at the Stobart Stadium, Halton.

Moving forward, the project team will now work towards submitting its evidence that will be presented to the inquiry by the 21st April. This evidence will then be available on the Mersey Gateway website, www.merseygateway.co.uk and on deposit at the Kingsway Learning Centre and Halton Lea Library.

Objectors and supporters have until 28th April to submit their evidence.

Cllr Tony McDermott MBE, Leader of Halton Borough Council and Chair of the Mersey Gateway Executive Board said:

“The pre-inquiry meeting is a key step in the process that the project is undertaking in the run up to the public inquiry starting on the 19th May.

“We will go away from today looking forward to publishing our evidence on the 21st April and to presenting our case at the Stobart Stadium, Halton later this spring.”
